Commercial property management and building consultancy firm Workman LLP has launched an internal mentorship programme in collaboration with The Circle Partnership. The scheme, specifically targeted at Associates, recognises the critical importance of supporting employees at the pivotal mid-point of their careers.
Introduced in direct response to employee feedback and as part of a wider culture and values project across the firm, the scheme is open to all Workman employees at Associate level nationwide, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility across the firm, while underlining the value of mentorship. Mentees will be matched with Partners and experienced team members across the business, fostering cross-functional relationships and ensuring the programme is grounded in real-world insight, support, and collaboration.
The programme is designed to build confidence, enhance visibility, foster community, and provide targeted support for Associates who have moved beyond APC qualification and are navigating fresh challenges, including client management and leadership development.
Matthew Pateman, Managing Partner, said:
“Reflecting on my own career journey, I’ve been lucky to have mentors who’ve guided me through challenging times, inspiring me to push my boundaries and realise my potential. The formalisation of mentoring as a development tool within our business will allow us to grow our talent in a way that is aligned to consistent values. As our brand evolves, this is the perfect time to introduce more structured ways of developing our people and maintaining our reputation as an outstanding service business, rooted in great Workmanship.”
To design and deliver the programme, Workman has partnered with The Circle Partnership, a specialist mid-level talent development organisation working to transform the culture, composition, and capability of the built environment.
Vanessa Murray, Director, The Circle Partnership, who began her career with Workman, said:
“It’s a privilege to be partnering with Workman, a company that holds a special place in my own career journey. Launching this pilot mentoring programme is particularly exciting because it embodies the values that make Workman stand out: putting people first and fostering growth. Witnessing the business transform – while staying true to its commitment to its people – is inspiring, and I’m looking forward to seeing the positive impact it will have for those involved.”
