Communications Agency, Magenta Associates, has been awarded Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation (CLO) accreditation, by the Carbon Literacy Project in recognition of its ongoing commitments to reducing carbon emissions and tackling climate change.
Carbon Literacy, as defined by the Carbon Literacy Project, is “an awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis”. To become accredited, an organisation must demonstrate Carbon Literacy through everyday behaviour and ensure a substantial proportion of its workforce is individually certified as Carbon Literate.
Magenta’s accreditation comes after six of its employees achieved Carbon Literacy accreditation in 2025. The business is targeting Silver CLO status by 2027 and will extend Carbon Literacy training to all its full-time employees. It is also exploring its own accredited Carbon Literacy course to deliver to clients and other organisations.
Magenta is establishing clear measures to monitor the ongoing impacts and outcomes of its Carbon Literacy journey. Each accredited team member will review their pledges on an annual basis, with wider organisational impact evaluated through annual Carbon Literacy meetings and employee surveys.
Jo Sutherland, Managing Director at Magenta, said: “Becoming a Bronze CLO is another important step in our commitment to responsible ESG action, particularly after we identified it as a target in our 2025 Impact Report. With future CLO commitments now in place, we’re also in a stronger position to support our clients and other organisations in their own sustainability journeys.”
Dave Coleman, Co-founder and Managing Director of the Carbon Literacy Project, commented: “Carbon Literacy is an essential skill, vital to every workplace, community, and place of study. Magenta Associates has demonstrated its commitment to genuine low-carbon action, environmental and economic impact, and the building of a low-carbon future for us all.”
