Trailblazer recognition for EMCOR UK in Stonewall’s Proud Employers Accreditation

Engineering-led facilities management workplaces services provider, EMCOR UK, which is now part of OCS, has been accredited as a Trailblazing Employer in the Proud Employers Accreditation Scheme.

The scheme is run by leading LGBTQ+ rights charity Stonewall. It benchmarks employers against a good practice framework across eight areas of inclusion and provides improvement guidance.

EMCOR UK achieved the highest of four accreditation levels, recognising the company’s commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace, scoring 163 out of a possible 200 points.

EMCOR UK had a strong performance in all eight categories: leadership, empowering individuals, employee network groups, the employee lifecycle, policies and benefits, monitoring, supply chains and external engagement. It had particularly high scores for employee network groups and a perfect score in supply chains. Stonewall highlighted the impact of network events and dedicated roles supporting marginalised LGBTQ+ colleagues, alongside collaboration with a customer network at Manchester Pride.

Its leadership was commended for its reverse mentoring scheme and intersectional approach to inclusion, while its ‘This is Us’ podcast and extensive LGBTQ+ allyship resources were praised for empowering individuals. Mandatory EDI training, allyship and privilege training for leaders, inclusive parental leave policies, anonymous diversity monitoring and targeted staff survey engagement were also recognised.

Stonewall also set out recommendations for EMCOR UK to strengthen its data, visibility and capability. It recommended further embedding inclusion-based assessments, regular training for leadership and team members, and encouraging greater visibility and examples in its policies.

Kam Singh, Executive Director of ESG at EMCOR UK, said: “Achieving Trailblazer status is a reflection of the genuine effort our people put into making EMCOR UK a place where everyone can be themselves and thrive. The feedback from Stonewall gives us a clear picture of how our community initiatives, training and resources are improving inclusivity across our organisation.”
