Apleona to expand FM footprint in the data centre and colocation markets

Apleona has partnered with Sygna, an international specialist for commissioning data centres and critical infrastructure.

The integrated facility management provider based near Frankfurt in Germany has acquired a majority stake in Sygna Holdings Limited, an international provider of commissioning and technical project management headquartered in Canary Wharf, London.

Both companies signed a respective agreement to enter into a strategic partnership. Sygna’s leadership team is retaining a significant shareholding and will continue to run the business going forward.

Sygna has a workforce of 90 skilled technicians and specialists and its services cover the entire project lifecycle, from inception and commissioning to post-occupancy evaluation of building and technology systems, supporting high-performance building solutions for data centres, commercial offices, substation, gigafactories or pharmaceutical laboratories.

Sygna is a trusted partner for client-side commissioning (CxA) for blue chip customers (e.g. “Hyperscalers”) in the fast-growing data centre and colocation business. It also offers contractor-side commissioning (CxM, CxC) for general contractors and technical project management for clients in the energy and critical infrastructure sectors, among others. The business has grown from its origins as a UK specialist into one of Europe’s most substantial commissioning practices, active across the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Denmark, and beyond.

Apleona CEO Dr. Jochen Keysberg commented on the partnership: “I look forward to implementing our strategic partnership, which will benefit both companies. Sygna adds an attractive technical service layer to Apleona’s service portfolio that closes the gap between installation and facility management. Its extensive technical expertise will enable Apleona to expand its FM business in the data centre market in future. Sygna will be supported by Apleona in the further international roll-out, with the help of Apleona’s strong European platform and international client base.”

Remi Portes, MD of Sygna, said: “This partnership reflects the scale our clients have been asking of us. Apleona gives us the platform to continue our growth while strengthening our reach. We look forward to the new proposition this strategic partnership will offer Sygna, Apleona, and our clients, while creating new opportunities for our people.”
