Mitie celebrates outstanding colleagues

Mitie has held its 2026 MyAchievement Awards which recognise individuals and teams who have gone above and beyond for customers, colleagues and communities across the UK.

The event, hosted by Mitie’s CEO, Phil Bentley, took place last week at The Shard in London and brought together over 300 colleagues both in person and virtually. The awards recognised excellence across a range of categories, showcasing the extraordinary contributions of colleagues across Mitie’s 84,000-strong workforce, from people embracing new technologies and championing inclusion, to those making a meaningful impact in their local communities.

The ceremony culminated in the announcement of the 2025/26 Mitie Stars winners, celebrating colleagues whose actions have made an exceptional difference to others. The winners were awarded cash prizes, with first place taking home £10,000, second place £5,000 and third place £2,500.

First place – Ashley, Detention Custody Officer: Ashley was recognised for her outstanding compassion, professionalism and calm judgement while supporting a highly vulnerable individual at Manchester Airport. Drawing on a decade of experience in her role, Ashley created a safe and trusted environment, which enabled the individual to feel comfortable sharing their concerns and seeking help.

Ashley ensured the matter was escalated appropriately so the right support could be put in place. Her empathy, quick thinking and commitment to the wellbeing of those in her care not only helped the individual access vital assistance but also contributed to wider safeguarding and modern slavery operations. Her actions exemplified the care and commitment that sit at the heart of Mitie’s values.

Second Place – Leeanne, Colleague Services Coordinator: Leeanne was recognised for her compassion and leadership while supporting colleagues during an extremely difficult medical situation at a site. Remaining calm and focused throughout, she helped safeguard the wellbeing of colleagues, providing reassurance and support when it was needed most. Her resilience, professionalism and unwavering focus on others helped colleagues navigate a difficult time, and demonstrated the importance of kindness and leadership under pressure.

Third Place – Adeniyi, Mobile Multi-Skilled Engineer: Adeniyi was recognised for his bravery and quick-thinking during an armed robbery. Drawing on his previous security experience, he acted decisively to help protect colleagues, customers and members of the public from harm before providing reassurance and support to those affected. His calm judgement, instinctive response and courage helped keep other safe during a highly challenging situations and reflected his commitment to putting people first.

The CEO Award was awarded to Donato, a Tactical Response Officer in East London, who was recognised for his professionalism, resilience and courage following a serious incident in 2024. While travelling to work, Donato intervened to help members of the public during a machete attack, despite the risk to his own safety. He was recognised for the courage, composure and selflessness he demonstrated in exceptionally challenging circumstances, earning Mitie’s highest individual leadership recognition.

One of this year’s winners was Phil, Head of Solutions Development, Mitie Ireland, who received the inaugural AI Champion Award, judged by Microsoft and Corndel. Phil was recognised for developing AI-powered tools that have streamlined bid processes, improved quality and unlocked efficiencies across the business. Alongside driving innovation, he has helped colleagues embrace new technology through training and coaching.

The awards also celebrated colleagues creating a positive impact for people and communities. Emily, a Soft Services Administrator, Technical Services in Chippenham, received the Inclusion Champion Award for her work with frontline teams, including launching a Men’s Mental Health campaign and creating opportunities for colleagues to connect, speak openly and feel supported at work.

Meanwhile, Rich, a Technical Engineering Manager in Greater London, received the Volunteer and Social Champion Award for his exceptional commitment to supporting local communities. Having dedicated more than 300 hours to school improvement initiatives, he has helped create better learning environments for pupils while inspiring colleagues to give back through volunteering. His commitment and leadership have delivered a lasting impact on the communities he supports.

Awards were also given out for apprentice of the year across Technical Services, Business Services and Professional Services as well as Apprentice Manager and contract of the year. The OneCode Award was awarded to a colleague who exemplified Mitie’s values on integrity during a major mobilisation programme.

Together they show the best of Mitie: people stepping way above and out of their day-to-day roles, supporting others beyond what could reasonably be expected and making a significant positive difference to our colleagues, customers and the communities we serve. We are filled with pride, respect and humility for the outstanding contributions of our Mitie colleagues, and congratulations and our warmest thanks to all our winners and finalists.”
