Amey is set to install its first electric vehicle (EV) charge points in collaboration with Trafford Council. The partnership will deliver up to 100 new public chargers across Trafford, providing affordable, accessible, and easy-to-use solutions so people can charge close to home and while on the move.
All charge points will be powered by 100 per cent zero carbon energy, reinforcing Amey’s commitment to decarbonisation, while supporting Trafford Council’s climate goals and the government’s transition to zero emission vehicles.
Amey’s extensive experience in managing full lifecycle service delivery from concept and design through to installation and maintenance, will ensure the most appropriate EV charge points are installed in the most suitable locations for residents. To optimise public and private funding opportunities, Amey’s investment capabilities will work in partnership with local authorities looking to boost the adoption of electric vehicles across all communities.
Peter Anderson, Managing Director of Transport Infrastructure at Amey, said: “Working with Trafford Council, we are making electric vehicle charging more accessible to local communities and helping residents make the switch to EVs. This is an extension to the current EV charging options in the borough and is great news for committed EV owners and those who are thinking about going electric.”
The project utilises City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements funding to trial and deliver sustainable public EV charging infrastructure in various residential areas across Trafford, with a particular focus on supporting households without off-street parking.
Amey will commence the installation of EV charging points in Trafford in the coming weeks.
