Independent fire & security provider, andwis, has strengthened its commitment to developing engineering excellence with the opening of a new training academy in Sidcup, Kent.
The purpose-built facility by andwis Group company, Senseco Systems represents the latest investment in andwis’ growing network of in-house training centres, designed to support apprentices, experienced engineers and customers while helping to raise standards across the wider industry.
The new academy builds on the success of Senseco’s existing training centre in Gillingham and provides a larger, dedicated environment where engineers can develop and refine their expertise across fire alarms, security systems, passive fire protection and sprinkler systems.
As buildings become increasingly complex and compliance requirements continue to evolve, the need for specialist engineering knowledge has never been greater. The academy has been designed to support the next generation of engineers while providing ongoing professional development opportunities for experienced teams.

The academy will play an important role in supporting apprenticeship programmes, giving trainees access to real-world systems and equipment within a controlled learning environment.
However, the facility has been designed to offer far more than apprentice training alone. Experienced engineers will use the academy to enhance their skills and stay up to date with emerging technologies, while customers will be able to visit the site to see systems in operation and collaborate with technical specialists on the development of solutions for complex projects.
The academy is one of several specialist training facilities operated across the andwis Group. These include the School of Rock, delivered by Rock Compliance, which provides specialist training in water hygiene, water treatment and asbestos awareness and management, supporting both colleagues and customers across the built environment.
