Mitie secures £68.5m contract with Central London Community Healthcare NHS

Mitie has been awarded a contract with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) for the provision of essential integrated facilities management and catering services.

The contract, worth up to £68.5 million, is initially for five years, with the option to extend for a further two years and consists of an IFM contract worth £34.5 million with a further £34 million of project-based work expected to be completed within the same time period.

The partnership will see Mitie deliver services across the CLCH’s 290 sites in 14 London boroughs, as well as in Hertfordshire, serving a population of 4.1 million people. This will include a mix of walk-in-centres and community clinics.

Mitie, which was appointed to NHS London’s procurement partnership FM framework in 2023, will provide a range of services including cleaning, compliance, security, pest control, help desk support and catering and estate management.

Approximately 150 employees will transfer to Mitie via TUPE with a one-team ethos to work collaboratively with the Trust to deliver essential FM and catering services as well as working together to achieve shared sustainability and social value goals. The deployment of electric vehicles, carbon reduced menus, sustainable cleaning products and the promotion of biodiversity across the estate, will all contribute to these shared sustainable commitments. Additionally, Mitie’s social value approach closely aligns with CLCH’s community priorities, supporting diverse groups including new mothers, school children and those living with disabilities. This will be achieved by enhancing access to services including apprenticeship opportunities, volunteering, work experience placements and creating and enhancing diverse spaces to contribute to social prescribing within local communities.

Mike Gibson, MD Local Government, Education and Healthcare, Mitie, said: “We’re proud to be working with CLCH to deliver facilities management and catering services that make a real difference to staff, patients, and visitors across London and Hertfordshire. Our teams will be supporting NHS services by keeping clinics and community centres clean and safe, to providing nutritious meals and ensuring buildings run smoothly, so frontline NHS staff can focus on patient care.

“We’re also committed to making a positive impact beyond day-to-day operations, from introducing electric vehicles and sustainable cleaning products to supporting local communities by creating jobs in the community and providing work experience placements.”

Paul Betts, Commercial Director at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “Effective facilities management and catering services are vital in helping us provide community health services to millions of people across 14 London boroughs and Hertfordshire.

“We look forward to working closely with Mitie to enhance the experiences of our communities and our workforce, while delivering value for money.”
