New MD for Skanska UK’s building services business

Skanska UK has named Dan Williams as the new Managing Director of its building services operating unit, which specialises in facilities management and mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) engineering.

Williams moves into the MD role from his current position of Operations Director, where his strategic responsibility has included the delivery of FM operations in the healthcare, local authority and commercial office sectors.

Prior to that, Williams held a number of senior roles within the MEP side of the business, having joined Skanska in 2001 from college, as part of a student engineer programme. During his career he has worked on a wide variety of projects across the commercial office, custodial, defence and residential sectors.

Williams succeeds Adam McDonald, who has been promoted to Executive Vice President and has taken over strategic responsibility for Skanska UK’s building and building services businesses.

Commenting on Williams’ appointment, McDonald said: “Dan has a thorough understanding of the different products and services that our building services business offers across its entire portfolio. He has built up strong customer relationships in both MEP and facilities management. We have a really compelling offer for the market and his appointment further strengthens the business.”

Webinar: How to create an ethical supply chain in FM

Are you confident that your contractors and suppliers meet ethical labour standards and human rights obligations?

For many FM services, managing multiple third parties in the supply chain can be a complex challenge. And, in a sector that relies heavily on migrant workers and 65 per cent of FM services facing difficulties in sourcing workers (Q4 2022 RICS survey), exposure to exploitation and modern slavery is a very real risk. With the UK one of the biggest destinations in Europe for trafficking of workers, you need full visibility of the people you work with, so you can minimise your risks and identify which part of your supply chain is most vulnerable.

FMJ, in partnership with Alcumus, is pleased to bring together a panel of experts to discuss how to create an ethical supply chain in FM.

Taking place at 11am on Wednesday 21st of June, the webinar will discuss:

  • The regulations to be aware of that are aimed at preventing human right abuses.
  • How to gain greater visibility of modern slavery compliance in the supply chain by having a robust verification process in place.
  • Steps to creating a compliant, ethical supply chain.
