Nurture Group completes its largest acquisition in five years

Green services provider, Nurture Landscapes Group, has completed the acquisition of Norfolk-based CGM Group.

The acquisition, which comes hot on the heels of a £57 million round of investment by All Seas Capital, is the company’s eighth in the past 12 months alone. It is the most significant since Windlesham-headquartered Nurture purchased Royal Warrant holder Gavin Jones Ltd in 2018, and allows the group to strengthen its footprint in East Anglia, while capitalising upon the local knowledge and deep customer relationships of CGM Group’s client teams.

CGM Group was founded by husband-and-wife team, Tim and Julie Glover, 38 years ago as Country Ground Maintenance Ltd, before becoming CGM Group (East Anglia) Ltd in 2016, the business has grown significantly and this year it is on track to deliver turn-over well in excess of £15 million.

Headquartered in Downham Market, Norfolk, with nearly 200 fully employed staff, CGM has built an excellent reputation for delivering grounds maintenance, arboriculture, and environmental services to a wide range of organisations, including Amey Defence Systems and the Canals and Rivers Trust.

Both of the founders, Tim and Julie, will now be stepping away from the business whilst their son, Operations Director Marcus Glover, will be charged with leading and developing the Nurture Landscapes brand as its Regional Director.

Tim Glover, said: “It was very important for us to ensure our commitment to our customers in providing green and sustainable services were protected and enhanced. We are delighted to become part of the Nurture Group and are confident that the combination of CGM’s regional knowledge and customer relationships, backed up by Nurture’s national scale, capabilities and reputation, will help reinforce and forge new and exciting relationships across the region.”

Peter Fane, Nurture Group Founder and Executive Chairman, added: “This is a crucial acquisition for us for many reasons, and one that we are all really excited about. In particular it gives us  considerably more presence in the East of England, and allows us to build upon the skills that CGM has, which we currently do not offer as part of our portfolio.

“Likewise, it paves the way for us to introduce new services to the region, such as winter gritting, pest control and internal and external plant displays. CGM has an enviable track record in East Anglia, and the company ethos and strong management team echoes ours. All this, and on the back of our recent third-party investment, aligns with our strategy to both grow and consolidate each market within the green services space. We look forward to welcoming Marcus and the team into the Nurture family.”
