SHP Awards 2022 – deadline extended to Monday 24 October

The SHP Awards are an exciting annual opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the brightest and most passionate health & safety professionals – and an extremely powerful platform for recognising diversity of success.

To give you enough time to enter or nominate a potential winner, the deadline has been extended to Monday 24 October.

Running in collaboration with global HSEQ talent experts Shirley Parsons, the awards are free to enter, with three main categories:

· SHP Rising Star Awards – celebrating the most talented under 30s

Launched by SHP in 2015, Rising Stars commends young health & safety professionals showing drive and determination in the early stages of their careers. In 2022 there are four awards:

  • Rising Star UK
  • Rising Star in Construction
  • Rising Star in Manufacturing
  • Rising Star International

· SHP Trailblazer Awards – highlighting positive efforts to make a difference, whether in health and safety, workplace wellbeing or – new for 2022 – in ESG

Launched by SHP in 2020, the Trailblazers are health & safety professionals who are going above and beyond to make a positive difference – in some cases within their own organisation, in other cases more widely in the community. Applications are open to everyone working in the UK, of all age groups and levels of seniority. In 2021 there were two awards, to recognise Trailblazers in Health & Safety and in Workplace Wellbeing. This year’s awards also includes a category around ESG.

· SHP Most Influential Awards – recognising the individuals and teams leading the profession

Launched by SHP in 2017, Most Influential celebrates those who have had the biggest impact on health & safety, not just within their own organisation but within the wider profession or society. Applications are open to all, and while a judging panel is involved in shortlisting, the final say is determined by public vote.

Judging your entry will be some of the leading names from the health and safety profession, including Helen Davitt, Global Health and Safety Lead at Barclays; Malcolm Staves, Global Vice President Health & Safety at L’Oréal; Jimmy Quinn, Senior Health and Safety Manager, Multiplex; and one of last year’s Rising Stars, Cindy Bell who is Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Advisor for Greggs.

Winning means you’ll get your name in lights on the SHP website, highlighting your victory and showcasing your achievements to over 600,000 annual visitors.

And for those under 30, winning the SHP Rising Star Award is a fantastic way to boost your career and promote yourself to the wider community.

Finalists and winners will be announced in early December, with trophies for the winners along with an exciting opportunity from Shirley Parsons for all finalists and winners to learn more about themselves and their teams through their unique profiling tool. HSEQ specific, the tool combines personality profiling and aspirations capture to create a rich profile of an individual’s strengths and areas for development. Self-awareness aids your development but also aids your understanding of others and how you influence and engage with others to achieve goals and aspirations.

The awards will ultimately culminate at Safety and Health Expo in May 2023 at ExCeL London, where winners and nominations will come together for a series of networking events to share best practice among past and present winners.
