Turnover triples in five years for Momentum

The Momentum Group is marking its fifth birthday with the news it has tripled in size financially. The company turned over £7.5 million in its fifth year, up from the £2.5 million in its first 12 months of operation.

The company’s increase in annual sales is one of several milestones for the North West-based property services company.

Established in Liverpool in 2018, The Momentum Group has grown from a team of 11 serving three clients in the city to employing 57 people advising almost 200 clients spread throughout the North West and beyond. To accommodate its team, the company has increased its office space from 400 sq ft in year one to 4,000 sq ft today, with Momentum now occupying a whole floor in One Temple Square, one of Momentum Manage’s portfolio of buildings.

Reflecting the diversification in its client base, The Momentum Group is now four separate businesses: Advise, Build, Manage and Maintain; and works on some of the best-known landmarks in Liverpool and the North West, including Liverpool ONE in the heart of the city. The company is also expanding nationally, with instructions for Momentum Build with Gravity at Westfield Stratford in London, and Momentum Manage in Guildford. In addition, Momentum Advise has consulted with Value Retail on Bicester Village, and Momentum Maintain worked for Hamleys toy stores across the country.

Chris Bliss and Chris Renshaw, Co-Founders, said: “We established The Momentum Group to build a business that not only stands out for the quality of what it achieves, but for the way in which it operates. Five years on, and thanks to a great team, clients and supply chain partners, we have exceeded our expectations. Our choice of ‘Momentum’ as the name of the business was quite deliberate, and it is very gratifying to see it borne out as we look to the next five years of our growth.”

Underpinning all of The Momentum Group’s business activities is Momentum Contribute, which is the company’s commitment to people, places, the planet and professionalism. This has led to eight of the team becoming qualified mental health first aiders and the introduction of work placement and apprenticeship programmes. The Group has also achieved accreditation with IWFM, BICS, RICS and CHAS and Safe Contractor, and is working to secure ISO45001 and ISO14001.

Bliss and Renshaw also created the Momentum Foundation to support community organisations in the Liverpool City Region. To date, the Foundation has contributed £42,000 to grass roots organisations, alongside building an endowment fund that currently stands at £15,000.

In addition, the company is committed to sustainability, as a Group and through Momentum Contribute, and is working to achieving carbon negative status and has applied for B Corp certification.

Bliss and Renshaw continued: “From the outset, we were determined The Momentum Group should support and nurture its team, put something back into the communities in which it operates, and minimise its impact on the environment. Doing so has made us not only a better business and employer, but it has also contributed to our growth. Staff, employees and supply chain partners alike can see we share similar values and commitments to them and that we understand their priorities. That makes us more desirable to work with and for and is something we remain committed to for the future.”

The Momentum Group recently hosted Liverpool’s first property sector sustainability conference in collaboration with Liverpool-based 2030hub, which brought together figures from across the industry to debate the sustainability challenges facing the built environment in the Liverpool City Region. The conference coincided with Global Goals Week, which promotes the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and closed with a pledge from The Momentum Group to form a Liverpool Sustainability Property Group that will look to challenge and raise concerns within the property sector in the Liverpool City Region
