Just a third (33 per cent) of respondents polled during yesterday’s Webinar on the Use of tech in helping FMs deliver ESG, (hosted by FMJ with PlanRadar) are on track to meet ESG goals. However, just over half (56 per cent) already utilise digital tech to help meet compliance.
This agreed the panel, which comprised Robert Norton UK Regional Leader for PlanRadar, Alan Stenson, CEO at neutral carbon zone and Michael Sewell, Plan Zero Director at Mitie illustrates the wider role that can be played by digital technology in helping FMs not only measure risk factors but monitor sustainability levels.
During the webinar, which was facilitated by FMJ editor Sara Bean, the panel defined the Environment, Social and Governance factors in ESG and where they touch the FM remit. Stenson, who is also MD of Ethical Nation, a Carbon Management and Sustainability consultancy explained the “E” applies to how an organisation can assess their use of resources, from the effect of direct operations to that of the supply chain.
Sewell, who is also a Fellow of the Energy Managers Association (EMA), emphasised the need for FMs to address societal issues, including supporting staff, smaller businesses and the community; while Norton focused on the ways FMs could comply with fast changing regulations and keep stringent digital records of risk assessments and compliance targets by adopting digital one stop solutions.
