B Corp status for Magenta Associates

Employee-owned communications consultancy Magenta Associates joins a global movement of for-profit businesses committed to creating a more sustainable, ethical and equitable economy having become a Certified B Corporation.

Nonprofit network B Lab provides B Corp Certification to companies that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. A company must achieve a B Impact Assessment score of 80+ to be certified. With a verified score of 126.1, Magenta now ranks among the top-performing B Corps in the UK communications sector.

As part of the B Corp community, Magenta has joined a movement of more than 8,000 companies globally. The B Corp Certification represents a significant step forward in Magenta’s mission to harness the power of communications as a force for good, driving positive social and environmental change.

Recent key milestones include:

  • Employee ownership: In 2024, Magenta transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust, empowering Magenta staff with a role in driving governance and shaping the company’s future.
  • Living Wage employer: All staff and suppliers are paid fairly, reflecting real living costs.
  • 4.5-day working week: A flexible working model that prioritises wellbeing while maintaining high standards of service for clients.
  • Ethical client base: Magenta is committed to working with businesses advancing environmental and social good.
  • Responsible comms: Since 2024, Magenta has published a Responsible Comms Charter and Green Claims Policy.
  • Environmental stewardship: Magenta operates entirely on renewable energy.

Jo Sutherland, MD of Magenta Associates, said: “This certification is a proud milestone for our team and reflects our hard work. Scoring well above the B Corp benchmark demonstrates to our clients, partners and industry that we are meeting our commitments and more, making a meaningful impact.”

Building on the B Corp Certification, Magenta has pledged to:

  • Report on its impact as a business annually, with transparency through the public B Corp Directory
  • Expand diversity and inclusion through inclusive recruitment and leadership development
  • Continue pushing boundaries by continuing to work on social value and environmental sustainability communications campaigns with our clients

“This is just the beginning,” Sutherland added. “Magenta doesn’t want to stand still. Communications has the power to inspire real change, and we are committed to working with clients, partners and the wider industry to make that happen.”
