JLA publishes 2024 Sustainability Report

JLA Limited, a specialist in end-to-end critical equipment for the facilities management sector, has published its 2024 Sustainability Report, highlighting major progress in decarbonisation, innovation, and community support.

The Yorkshire-based business, which supports FM customers with one-stop laundry, catering, HVAC, infection control and fire safety solutions, shared key metrics from its ongoing carbon reduction drive.

The results include a 27% reduction in operational carbon intensity (tCO2e/£m revenue) since JLA’s last Sustainability Report, as well as a 9% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions since 2023.

The firm also achieved a large reduction in carbon emissions through the ongoing electrification of its fleet. 99% of JLA’s company cars are now fully electric, with the remaining 1% hybrid-electric.

Other achievements from the past 12 months include:

  • 8.5 million kWh of energy saved over 12 months
  • 280 million litres of water saved through the company’s cold-wash OTEX ozone laundry disinfection system
  • 93% of electricity now sourced from renewables
  • 12% reduction in time lost to workplace injuries
  • £100,000 of apprenticeship levy donated to fund frontline sector skills
  • A new target of 2040 for the business to reach Net Zero

With digital transformation a key priority for FMs, JLA lauded advances in laundry asset management. This includes its widely adopted Connect platform – an always-on remote monitoring system that allows FMs to keep an eye on carbon emissions and estimated utility costs, and reduce downtime across multiple sites.
