Construction company, Momentum Build, part of The Momentum Group, has secured a contract award with Freedom Leisure and Guildford Borough Council to deliver works for Puttify at the Guildford Spectrum leisure complex.
Puttify will form a key part of Guildford Spectrum’s leisure offer, delivering 3,300 sq ft of a nine-hole, immersive and high-tech indoor mini-golf experience. Puttify seamlessly blends smart technology with competitive socialising, and it will sit adjacent to Guildford Spectrum’s popular bowling offer, which will now be made up of 26 bowling lanes. Momentum Build will deliver enabling works ahead of Puttify’s fit-out, including the strip out of six bowling alley lanes and the surrounding infrastructure, as well as installing new walls and flooring to prepare the space for the attraction.
Momentum Build has started works on the project, which is due for completion in early May.
The work forms part of a wider £10 million investment project by Freedom Leisure, one of the UK’s leading not-for-profit charitable leisure and cultural trusts.
This marks Momentum Build’s first project in Guildford. The Momentum Group has a wealth of experience delivering leisure destinations across the UK. Previous projects include Gravity MAX at Liverpool ONE and Stratford, Flight Club at Liverpool ONE, and Urban Playground at Manchester Arndale. Momentum Build was also recently appointed to deliver the refurbishment of Xplore! Science Discovery Centre, which included work on the centre’s planetarium.
Dan Lewis, Construction Director at Momentum Build, said: “Being appointed by Freedom Leisure reflects our strong track record in the leisure sector and our experience delivering projects for leading operators such as Gravity MAX and Flight Club. This also marks Momentum Build’s first project in Guildford, reflecting our continued growth into new regions. Puttify will bring a new social destination to the area, creating a place where the community can come together. It’s great to be working closely with Freedom Leisure, whose community-focused approach closely aligns with our core values.”
The contract award follows the announcement that The Momentum Group has strengthened its Advise team with four new strategic hires. These appointments coincided with the rollout of individual brand indentities for each of The Momentum Group’s businesses: Advise, Build, Manage, and Maintain.
FMJ and Watco Webinar: Meeting compliance in a new culture of accountability
From January 2026, the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) formally separated from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Created under the Building Safety Act 2022 in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the BSR is designed to raise safety standards across the built environment and introduce a stronger culture of accountability, transparency, and proactive risk management.
This shift places facilities managers in a more strategic safety assurance role – far beyond routine maintenance.
FMJ and Watco are hosting a webinar on 22 April at 11:00am to explore what this new regulatory landscape means for FMs. To register for the webinar click here.
