Mecsia Group expands UK fire, security and compliance expertise with acquisition

Mecsia, a leading provider of compliance‑led technical inspection, testing, and maintenance services, has acquired FMS Fire & Security Ltd, in a move which will strengthen Mecsia’s fire safety capability, essential to delivering safe, reliable, high‑quality services for customers across the UK.

Based in Scotland, FMS Fire & Security brings over 35 years of expertise in fire detection, CCTV, access control, and integrated security systems. The business is known for technical excellence, a customer‑first culture, and reliable service delivery, making it a strong strategic and cultural fit for the Group.

Neil Johnson, CEO of Mecsia, said: “FMS adds a new level of technical depth to Mecsia, particularly in the selfdelivery of fire alarms and detection, strengthening our capability across Scotland and supporting the continued growth of ECG. Their highly skilled team and longestablished reputation for quality service enhance our ability to deliver reliable, complianceled solutions for clients in a region where were already performing exceptionally well. This partnership deepens our Groupwide technical competence and further reinforces our commitment to providing outstanding engineering services for customers across the UK.”

Dominic Rea, Director FMS, commented: “We’ve built our business on quality, reliability, and a strong customer focus, and we’re incredibly proud of what FMS has achieved over the past 36 years. Joining Mecsia is a natural next step, and it remains business as usual for our clients, with no changes to our services, brand, or team. This partnership simply gives us greater strength to keep improving while staying true to our values. We’re excited about the future and look forward to supporting our clients as part of a larger, like‑minded Group.”

Safety at Work
FMJ and Watco Webinar: Meeting compliance in a new culture of accountability

From January 2026, the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) formally separated from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Created under the Building Safety Act 2022 in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the BSR is designed to raise safety standards across the built environment and introduce a stronger culture of accountability, transparency, and proactive risk management.

This shift places facilities managers in a more strategic safety assurance role – far beyond routine maintenance.

FMJ and Watco are hosting a webinar on 22 April at 11:00am to explore what this new regulatory landscape means for FMs. To register for the webinar click here.
