ABM bags two new technical deals in the retail sector

Facility services provider, ABM, has bolstered its technical portfolio following the award of two new retail contracts.

The latest contract wins for ABM will see the team manage technical services for The Trafford Centre in Manchester, the third largest shopping centre in the UK, along with Derbion, the largest shopping centre in the East Midlands.

The three-year contracts cover statutory and non-statutory compliance service which will include, but not be limited to, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), energy solutions, mechanical and electrical services, buildings and fabric maintenance and management system upkeep.

ABM will have a number of engineers based full-time on site, across both centres, seven days a week.

Kim Harris, Operations Director at ABM commented: “These two new wins are exciting additions to our retail portfolio. Working collaboratively with the teams on site, we have embedded our teams and ensured a smooth handover of responsibilities and mobilisation to ensure there is no disruption to customers and their shopping experience.”

The technical contracts boost ABM’s retail credentials, taking its portfolio to 24 UK retail shopping centres, which includes sites at St James Quarter in Edinburgh and Telford Shopping Centre.

Metro Rod Drainage and Plumbing Survey

With the current economic crisis resulting in higher prices and more of a squeeze on resources, FMs need to ensure that they have robust building and maintenance services in place to control costs and reduce the need for emergency repairs. When it comes to drainage and plumbing there are also the challenges of dealing with extreme weather, from droughts to flooding, the need to meet stringent regulations and to avoid causing environmental damage.

UK drainage specialist, Metro Rod, has launched a survey which explores the main areas of interest for FMs in maintaining drainage and plumbing, including how they currently assess their supply chains to ensure they’re working with partners that meet the highest possible standards and provide value for money.

The results will be published online so that you can see how you compare to others within the sector.

The survey should take just 5-10 minutes of your time, and as a thank you, you will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky winner will be picked at random to receive a £100 Amazon voucher.
