Flexible Space Association exceeds 1,000 locations milestone

The Flexible Space Association’s (FlexSA) membership has grown to over 1,000 flexible workspace locations across the UK, demonstrating the fast-growing demand for flexible workspace solutions in the modern business landscape.

With members such as x+why, YoooServ, Cubo Work and Square Works Bristol all joining this year, figures from The Instant Group report that UK flexible workspace occupancy rates hit a record high in 2022, standing at 83 per cent at the end of the year.

FlexSA is the trade association for the UK flexible workspace industry. Its members include flexible workspace operators, and the providers of services to the sector, who work together to support, promote and advance the industry. Its largest members include  Landmark, Orega, TOG, Newflex and Clockwise. The association provides a platform for collaboration and networking, as well as advocacy, lobbying and research.

The flexible workspace industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years as more companies recognise the benefits of flexible work arrangements. The Covid-19 pandemic has also accelerated this trend, as many businesses now require more flexible workspace solutions for their employees. IWG reports that 88 per cent of companies are planning a full shift to flexible working.

This year’s Flexible Space Association’s Conference and Exhibition is taking place at etc.venues’ County Hall conference centre in central London on Tuesday 23 May 2023 and will include sessions on:

  • Valuation: Why flex buildings aren’t worthless
  • Q&A with Enrico Sanna, CEO of The Office Group
  • Much more than a welcoming smile: what makes for great client experience in flexible workspaces
  • How coworking can support the growth of local economies
  • What now for business rates and serviced offices?

Attendees will also be given ample opportunity to network with others in the industry throughout the day, culminating with a reception.

Webinar: How to create an ethical supply chain in FM

Are you confident that your contractors and suppliers meet ethical labour standards and human rights obligations?

For many FM services, managing multiple third parties in the supply chain can be a complex challenge. And, in a sector that relies heavily on migrant workers and 65 per cent of FM services facing difficulties in sourcing workers (Q4 2022 RICS survey), exposure to exploitation and modern slavery is a very real risk. With the UK one of the biggest destinations in Europe for trafficking of workers, you need full visibility of the people you work with, so you can minimise your risks and identify which part of your supply chain is most vulnerable.

FMJ, in partnership with Alcumus, is pleased to bring together a panel of experts to discuss how to create an ethical supply chain in FM.

Taking place at 11am on Wednesday 21st of June, the webinar will discuss:

  • The regulations to be aware of that are aimed at preventing human right abuses.
  • How to gain greater visibility of modern slavery compliance in the supply chain by having a robust verification process in place.
  • Steps to creating a compliant, ethical supply chain.
