Construction and infrastructure services firm, Kier Group has announced the appointment of Louisa Finlay as its new Chief People Officer, with effect from 6 March 2023.
Finaly, who is currently Kier Construction’s Clients and Markets Managing Director will take over from Helen Redfern, who will be leaving Kier after 10 years to take up a role as Chief People, Sustainability and Communications Officer outside of the industry.
Finlay has worked for Kier for over 30 years since joining as a trainee engineer on a sandwich degree. She has worked in numerous sectors and roles in the national and regional construction businesses, including as Managing Director of the Kier Southern Construction business. In her current role, as well as responsibilities for key frameworks, clients and markets, she is also Kier Construction’s lead on environmental and social sustainability.
Finaly is also passionate about the skills, talent pipeline and professionalism of the construction sector, as demonstrated through her roles as Trustee of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and membership of BuildUK, the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Construction and Property Industry Mentoring Circle.

In this, the sixth year for the annual appraisal, we know there is a greater opportunity than ever for FMs to reappraise their waste and recycling operations and help their organisations meet the growing pressure to achieve ESG goals.
We want to learn how FMs have adapted to the legislative, economic and societal changes of the past year and how they plan to meet the latest waste and recycling targets.
In this survey we’ve posed a series of questions which include insights into FMs’ waste management strategy and targets, how they’re moving towards zero waste targets, and the importance of not just meeting compliance targets but also ESG goals.
The results of the 2023 survey will be published in FMJ magazine and form the basis of a white paper co-written by FMJ and the experts at Grundon on how to approach waste and recycling strategies.
