Nurture Landscapes Group completes a trio of acquisitions in latest growth strategy move

Green services provider, Nurture Landscapes Group, has increased its presence in the Midlands and North of England with the completion of three acquisitions this month. The three deals, each for undisclosed sums, underpin the UK-wide landscaping and horticultural services group’s growth strategy, with group revenue set to exceed £125m this year.

Barton Grange Landscapes, near Preston, Alpha Pest Control in Stoke-on-Trent, and Enserve in Leeds bring the total number of acquisitions completed this year to five, and 37 since the Nurture Landscape business came into being in 2008.

Alpha Pest Control and Enserve, both pest control specialists, follow the Group’s recent acquisition of Royal Warrant Holder Rokill Pest Control, and expands its capabilities within a growing market. Alec McQuin, chairman of Rokill, is responsible for the ongoing Pest Control Acquisition programme and worked closely with both these companies.

The Barton Grange acquisition, the largest of the three, will strengthen the Group’s offerings within landscape construction and grounds maintenance, where, following its acquisition of Gavin Jones several years ago, it can boast a proud heritage extending over more than 100 years.

Commenting on the group’s latest acquisition, Peter Fane, Nurture Group’s founder and executive chairman, said: “All three businesses are tremendous businesses in their own right and absolutely the perfect match for Nurture. We are delighted for many reasons, not least because together they not only add extra capacity and skills in the Midlands and Northern regions, but each business brings with it tremendously loyal clients in both the commercial and public sectors. As an ambitious and award-winning horticultural and landscaping business, branching out and going for growth is in our veins.”

Employing more than 40 people, Barton Grange Landscapes was established in 1957 by Eddie Topping, and is now owned by his sons, Peter and Guy. Covering the north west of England, Barton Grange Landscapes established a reputation as one of the most respected and professional landscaping contractors in the north west of England, carrying out all elements of hard and soft landscaping and was a founder member of member of BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) and is also full members of the APL (Association of Professional Landscapers) and the HTA (Horticultural Trades Association).

Commenting on the business’s acquisition, Peter Topping said: “’As a family run company for 65 years, we are delighted to hand over the reins to the UK’s preeminent landscaping and green services brand. We look forward to the company’s continued success as part of a responsible and highly respected group.”

Working with Peter Fane on the new acquisitions was Nick Hills, Nurture Group’s COO for the Midlands, North, and Scotland regions, who said: “It is great to bring Alpha, Enserve, and Barton Grange into the Nurture family. Each brings new, fresh approaches and ideas to the table, which will help the group to continue its path of growth.”
