Mitie brings in former RMS team to strengthen heat decarbonisation offering

Mitie has enhanced its capability to manage the design, development, installation and maintenance of heat decarbonisation solutions by bringing in-house fabrication and heat pump expertise from the former RMS team.

The move will strengthen Mitie’s ability to deliver turnkey heat decarbonisation projects for private and public sector clients, underpinning Mitie’s position as a leading decarbonisation delivery partner.

Over 20 specialists from RMS will join Mitie’s Projects business, bringing specialist expertise in renewable micro solutions which includes heat pumps, packaged plant rooms, microgrid design and operation, together with the integration of renewable energy solutions in the UK market.

This strategic move broadens Mitie’s service offering for both existing and new customers across private and public sectors, particularly in health, education, local authority and industrial sectors. It will also significantly strengthen Mitie’s in-house delivery of low-carbon energy solutions, enabling it to support clients, as they retrofit, or install new heat systems, reinforcing its role in driving the UK’s energy transition.

The RMS team’s technical experience and proven design and installation expertise will complement Mitie’s existing Projects business, which delivers comprehensive engineering services including: mechanical and electrical installations, renewable energy solutions and building upgrade projects. The move will enhance Mitie’s growing energy and decarbonisation portfolio including G2, ESM, Custom Solar and Rock Power Connections.

Mark Caskey, Managing Director Projects, Mitie, said: “This is an important strategic move for Mitie, enabling us to strengthen our heat decarbonisation offering for our customers alongside our existing capabilities in energy, decarbonisation and electrical engineering. The specialist knowledge and expertise that the former RMS team brings, is a fantastic addition to support our customers with their decarbonisation ambitions.”

The UK market for heat decarbonisation solutions for commercial and industrial buildings is worth £1.1 billion and is predicted to grow at 30 per cent annually over the medium term.
