Deborah Rowland Scholarship deadline extended

The application deadline for the 2026 Deborah Rowland Scholarship, which supports emerging talent into the workplace and facilities management profession, has been extended until Friday 10 July 2026.

Now in its third year, the scholarship provides funding for IWFM-regulated qualifications at Levels 2, 3 and 4.

For a second year, training provider Xenon Group will provide two fully funded qualification places, with study taking between 18 and 24 months alongside monthly mentoring sessions from experienced professionals. Building operations platform Kitt is also providing funding for two further scholarship places in 2026.

Widening access has always been central to the scholarship’s purpose. The extension reflects that same commitment, ensuring as many eligible candidates as possible, including those who may be balancing work, caring responsibilities or other commitments, have a genuine opportunity to apply.

The programme has grown steadily since launch, supporting two scholars in 2024 and four in 2025.

Deborah Rowland, Founder of the scholarship and Director of Public Affairs at Sodexo UK, said: “This scholarship represents an incredible opportunity for people who might not otherwise have access to training or professional support. Workplace and facilities management can be a brilliant, rich and rewarding career, offering variety and the chance to make a real impact. I would encourage anyone considering their future in the profession to apply. I’m hugely proud of what this programme has achieved so far and look forward to seeing the talent that comes through in this round.”

Linda Hausmanis, CEO of the IWFM, commented: “One of the great things about this profession is its ability to attract and develop attract talented people from a wide range of backgrounds. The Deborah Rowland Scholarship is testament to that. We’re proud to support it and are proud that is already making a tangible difference to individuals and to the sector as a whole. We’d encourage anyone considering the next steps in their careers to put an application forward.”

Steve Coulson, CEO of Kitt, added: “Facilities management is becoming more important, more strategic and more visible in every workplace decision, so backing the next generation of FM talent feels exactly right. Kitt is delighted to play a small part in helping more people access that opportunity.”
