Anenta expands into facilities management

Independent healthcare waste management specialist, Anenta, has announced it will be expanding its services into facilities management with the appointment of former NHS Director of Primary Care, William Cunningham-Davis, as its new Director of Development & Partnerships.

The appointment comes as organisations across the NHS, the public sector, and the wider private sector face growing pressure to reduce costs, cut CO₂, enhance sustainability, improve financial performance, and navigate increasingly complex compliance standards.

To meet these needs, Cunningham-Davis will be developing and expanding Anenta’s service offering to include a range of specialist management solutions for areas not covered by NHS reimbursement frameworks. These will be created to support the sustainability of Anenta’s clients both financially and environmentally.

Designed to meet the changing needs of healthcare organisations and the wider commercial sector, Anenta will be introducing estates management, organisational development, specialist consultancy, facilities management, and enhanced compliance and training services.

Prior to joining Anenta, Cunningham-Davis served for more than 29 years across a variety of NHS organisations, most recently as Director of Primary Care at North East London Integrated Care Board.

In his new role he will oversee Anenta’s development and growth strategy, which has already seen success with its expansion into specialist environmental and decontamination services. This includes a major university laboratory decontamination contract win and programme completion.

Alongside this, Cunningham-Davis and his team will work with current contract holders to identify opportunities for greater efficiency through improved waste segregation, streamlined collection arrangements, reduced transport, and more sustainable treatment of waste. His objective is to help clients reduce costs, lower environmental impact and make good progress towards their net-zero goals while maintaining full legislative compliance.

Commenting on his appointment, Cunningham-Davis said: “Anenta has established a strong reputation within the healthcare waste market. However, there is significant potential to apply that knowledge and experience more broadly, particularly in the sphere of facilities management. As many organisations face increasing pressures around compliance, sustainability and operational efficiency, we are well place to meet that need. It’s a really exciting time to be joining the team at a point of great opportunity.”

Managing Director of Anenta, Graham Flynn, said: “William’s knowledge, expertise and background within the NHS make him a significant addition to the Anenta leadership team. He understands the pressures that healthcare organisations are under, and the significant opportunities that exist to dramatically improve efficiency and sustainability by working with clients to drive meaningful change. As we continue to diversify our services and expand into new markets, including the facilities management sector, William will play a pivotal role in helping shape the next phase of Anenta’s growth.”

Anenta supports over 20,000 customer sites in England.
