Jill Thomson has been appointed as Head of Business Development at Capital Service Solutions, one of Scotland’s leading specialist commercial cleaning firms.
Thomson brings over 14 years of experience within the cleaning and integrated facilities management sector. Throughout her career, she has built up a strong foundation of experience and industry knowledge holding roles with national and regional organisations including OCS and Spectrum Service Solutions.
She was most recently Customer Relations Director at Complete Cleaning Services, playing a key role in relationship management, stakeholder engagement and business development.
Thomson’s appointment reinforces the company’s commitment to sustained growth and strengthening client partnerships and follows the recent addition of Lawrence Curran as Head of HSEQ and Facilities Management, as the business continues to invest in robust operational structures, governance, and frontline leadership to ensure service excellence across its portfolio.
Managing Director Moreland McDiarmid said of the appointment: “This is about establishing the right structure to support our growth, while ensuring that as we scale, we continue to enhance the day-to-day experience for our clients.
“Jill understands what true service excellence looks like on site – not just in theory, but in how services are delivered, managed and held to account every day. For our clients, this means clearer communication, proactive service delivery and a partner that takes ownership.”
Thomson said: “I was introduced to Moreland a few years ago and have followed Capital’s journey since then. The company’s vision and culture strongly align with my own values which initially attracted me to the role.
“In the short time I’ve worked here, it’s evident the culture is a key focus within the business. As part of the senior leadership team, I will support the execution of Capital’s growth strategy, leading business development activity and driving client retention. I believe my industry experience and outcome-led focused approach will add real value.”
Livingston-based Capital Service Solutions provides commercial and specialist cleaning services and soft FM services including consumables, hygiene services, pest control, waste management and grounds maintenance to a UK-wide client base.
FMJ and Watco Webinar: Meeting compliance in a new culture of accountability
From January 2026, the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) formally separated from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Created under the Building Safety Act 2022 in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the BSR is designed to raise safety standards across the built environment and introduce a stronger culture of accountability, transparency, and proactive risk management.
This shift places facilities managers in a more strategic safety assurance role – far beyond routine maintenance.
FMJ and Watco are hosting a webinar on 22 April at 11:00am to explore what this new regulatory landscape means for FMs. To register for the webinar click here.
