Claremont Insight Report finds the workplace has a unique opportunity to evolve

While trying to get back to some sort of ‘normality’ post pandemic presents huge challenges, this is not necessarily a negative as it offers opportunities for workplaces to evolve. This is the findings of a new Interiors Insight Report published by Claremont Group Interiors in association with FMJ.

The report confirms that with the over half (52 per cent) of employees saying flexible work policies would affect the decision to stay at their organisation, this new hybrid world of work, presents a dilemma for employers and employees on determining the optimal mix between home and office working.

However, with the survey data on the common issues people experience at work highlighting that many organisations are still not getting even the basics right, the report offers some useful insights into how organisations can ramp up the workplace environment to make it more appealing to staff.

This includes advice on supporting the office commute, improving amenities and ensuring that crucial elements such as acoustics, ventilation and access to quiet and collaborative areas are all in the mix.

And while Corporate Real Estate may be reduced to reflect changing work patterns the report confirms: “We are seeing a potential decrease in property costs but expenditure increase in amenity spending. This has significant implications for organisations and their mindset as they start to address making the workplace ‘better than home’ and brings changing priorities for FM, Finance, Tech and HR.”

It adds: “Re-allocation of budgets is taking place, saving on the costs of floor – space but increasing investment in amenities that support workers effectively. one area where spend is increasing dramatically is around the amenities which support well – being, provide physical facilities for rest, relaxation or exercise.”

It’s clear from this report that the role of FMs and Workplace Managers in creating a welcoming, flexible and supportive workplace environment is more crucial than ever.
