Healthcare Estates – The Biggest yet! Are you attending?

Healthcare Estates 2022 is just a few weeks away, with preparations really ramping up now for the biggest event yet; more exhibitors, more speakers, more exhibition theatres, a fabulous new venue for the Dinner and Awards, and a very special plenary theatre on the exhibition floor this year that hosts the Keynote presentations. Keynote sessions feature some great names including Sir David Behan, Chair of Health Education England, Nigel Edwards, Chief Executive Officer, The Nuffield Trust, Professor Peter Guthrie, Vice – President of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Dr Sean Fitzgerald, Director of Research at the Centre for Climate Repair, University of Cambridge.

A rugby referee with an unrivalled record

Speaking as a special guest in the keynote theatre at 3.30 pm on 5 October at Healthcare Estates 2022 will be Nigel Owens MBE, the most-capped referee in world rugby. Born and raised in Mynyddcerrig, Wales, he made his World Cup debut in 2007 refereeing Argentina v Georgia. In December 2020, he brought his 17-year international career to an end, with the November 2020 France v Italy Autumn Nations Cup game his 100th and final Test match. The first openly gay man to referee at the highest level, Nigel talks about diversity, mental health, and overcoming adversity.

Healthcare Estates Exhibition

Healthcare Estates is a truly unique event in the UK market – the only national conference and exhibition to bring together those who design, build manage and maintain healthcare facilities.

Travel to the venue is easy, direct trains from London are still at a surprisingly affordable rate and parking on site is free for our VIP guests who also get complimentary refreshments and a VIP meeting area, sponsored by Wandsworth Healthcare.

The Healthcare Estates exhibition, features over 200 stands – so two days of your time gives you the complete technical, practical, professional and political framework in which to make effective decisions. If you want to know if you’re doing things right, this is the right place to begin.

New for 2022, The Virtual Dementia Tour and Autism Reality Experience offers delegates the unique opportunity to walk in the shoes of people living with dementia or autism. Delegates are provided with equipment that will impair their physical and sensory abilities, before being taken through a short experience on a specially designed mobile simulator, allowing them to see, hear and feel what it might be like for people living with dementia or autism.

Healthcare Estates Conference

The 4 Key Themes for the Conference have been revised to reflect the issues that have the greatest impact on the healthcare industry, these are: Engineering & Facilities, Net Zero, Strategic and Capital Planning, and Workforce. These themes are reflected in the Keynote panel discussion sessions – two on each day of the conference, with carefully selected panellists at the top of their fields, including Annie Shepherd CEO of Salix Finance, Professor Peter Guthrie, Professor of Engineering for Sustainable Development at the University of Cambridge, Dame Sue Ion, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Nick Hulme, Chief Executive of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, and Professor Grant Mills, Professor of Healthcare Infrastructure Delivery and Faculty lead for Health, Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, University College London.

This year sees more speakers from NHS Trusts than ever before, making Healthcare Estates the place for peer to peer learning, with case studies, and direct experience from those working with initiatives and technology for carbon reduction, facility planning, design and building, safety, digital infrastructure, building data collection and management, air quality, and space planning.

With NHS experts from around the country coming the conference to share their experiences in their facilities, Healthcare Estates is the frontrunner for learning best practice from those on the frontline.

The IHEEM Technical platforms for Ventilation and Electrical will be presenting in the conference this year, and there are also IHEEM workshops available to delegates covering the topics of Environmental Sustainability, Apprenticeships and Meeting the Workforce Challenge, Diversity and Inclusion, and Estates Strategy – all lead by Technical Platform Leads and IHEEM members.

Sector experts working with the NHS also make an important contribution to the programme discussing a range of topics including smart buildings, therapeutic architecture, asset optimisation, air quality, achieving net zero, and modern methods of construction.

This year’s conference has a significantly revised ticket pricing structure which is based on a saving of at least £50 per day across all entry ticket prices (against 2019 rates).
