IWFM appoints chair for the East of England

Neil Fright has been appointed as Chair of IWFM East of England.

The appointment, which took effect this month and covers Essex, Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Norfolk, brings more than 25 years of facilities management experience to the regional leadership role. Fright is also an IWFM Fellow, having received Fellowship in 2024.

His appointment comes at a time when FM is playing an increasingly strategic role in organisational performance, from compliance and resilience, to energy use, workplace experience and long-term estate planning.

Fright began his career in FM on a helpdesk before progressing through engineering, estates and leadership roles. He now leads Carbon Numbers, a business focused on energy management, smart buildings and building performance, and works closely with FM teams across a range of sectors.

In his role as IWFM East Chair, he is expected to focus on strengthening the East of England FM community through regional events, CPD, mentoring and stronger connections between professionals working across the sector. He has also spoken about the importance of encouraging more people into the profession through engagement with schools, colleges and universities.

Fright said: “Facilities management has a vital role to play in helping organisations perform well, adapt to change and create better environments for the people who use their buildings. It is a profession with real breadth, real responsibility and growing influence.

“I’m looking forward to supporting IWFM members across the East of England and helping build a stronger, more connected regional network. There is a real opportunity to raise the visibility of the profession, strengthen development opportunities and support both current and future FM leaders.”
