IWFM Impact Award winners win again at Global FM Awards of Excellence 2023

Two winners from the IWFM Impact Awards 2022 have won yet again – this time at the Global FM Awards of Excellence 2023!

The awards programme celebrates organisations for their commitment and success in promoting and enhancing FM practice.

Global FM, which judged nominated entries from its members, awarded Gold to National Library of Scotland for its ‘Enhancing environmental control and energy reduction management in the heritage sector’ project, while 14forty’s ‘Putting wellbeing at its heart’ project was Highly Commended.

Last October the National Library of Scotland took home top prize in the Technology category at the IWFM Impact Awards 2022 for its Library Environmental Energy Platform (LEEP) to reduce their carbon footprint, refurbish the library’s building services systems, and enhance the control and monitoring of collections environments.

At the same Awards, 14forty won in the Wellbeing category for their progressive approach to employee catering. They partnered with the University of Cambridge to produce PACE labelling, which explains to 14forty’s clients how many steps would need to be taken to use up the calories in each dish. With sustainability also high on the agenda, a further research project with the University of Oxford saw 14forty develop Eco Labelling, a method of rating dishes from A to E depending on how good they are for the environment.

IWFM CEO Linda Hausmanis said of the successes: “Congratulations on this double win to the teams behind these inspiring projects. Workplace and facilities management professionals are critical to achieving sustainability outcomes in organisations, and these amazing winners are perfect examples of FM making a real difference this World FM Day.

“IWFM Impact Awards finalists have been recognised six times in a row at the Global FM Awards. This shows the enduring value the FM profession brings as a business enabler, transforming organisations and enhancing experience.”

Webinar: How to create an ethical supply chain in FM

Are you confident that your contractors and suppliers meet ethical labour standards and human rights obligations?

For many FM services, managing multiple third parties in the supply chain can be a complex challenge. And, in a sector that relies heavily on migrant workers and 65 per cent of FM services facing difficulties in sourcing workers (Q4 2022 RICS survey), exposure to exploitation and modern slavery is a very real risk. With the UK one of the biggest destinations in Europe for trafficking of workers, you need full visibility of the people you work with, so you can minimise your risks and identify which part of your supply chain is most vulnerable.

FMJ, in partnership with Alcumus, is pleased to bring together a panel of experts to discuss how to create an ethical supply chain in FM.

Taking place at 11am on Wednesday 21st of June, the webinar will discuss:

  • The regulations to be aware of that are aimed at preventing human right abuses.
  • How to gain greater visibility of modern slavery compliance in the supply chain by having a robust verification process in place.
  • Steps to creating a compliant, ethical supply chain.
