NG Bailey has been awarded a five-year contract extension with St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool, marking a landmark partnership of more than 20 years.
The contract will see NG Bailey continue to deliver planned preventative maintenance and reactive services to the city’s largest covered shopping centre. The work will be delivered by NG Bailey’s Facilities Services team, which will have five engineers based permanently on site.
The renewal follows a competitive tender process, with the company demonstrating its ability to maintain and enhance service delivery while aligning with the client’s operational and strategic priorities.
A key element of the new contract is the continued rollout of NG Bailey’s Core Connect energy management platform. The system will help assess the site’s energy performance in real time through data capturing sensors, including pipework temperature, CO2 and leak detention, supporting improved energy efficiency and performance monitoring.
Additional elements of the contract renewal include upgrades to St Johns’ staff welfare facilities and regular ESG strategy days led by NG Bailey. The site will also support the development of NG Bailey apprentices, offering hands on experience in a live retail environment.
Sarah Hotchen, Managing Director of NG Bailey Facilities Services, said: “Our long-standing relationship with St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool is a testament to NG Bailey’s commitment to partnership working and how we can add measurable, outcomes-based value to a site as well as to the community it sits within.
“Since the beginning of our work with St Johns, the facilities management landscape has evolved significantly and, as a result, we have taken a flexible and nimble approach, introduced new ways of working, industry standards and technologies, whilst adapting in line with legislative changes.
“This renewal further evidences the significant level of trust and high standards that we have maintained over a 20-year period; we are extremely proud of what we have achieved and excited about what else is to come.”
Neil Ashcroft, Centre Director at St Johns Shopping Centre, added: “St Johns has a long and proud history in Liverpool and is home to more than 100 independent and high street stores. Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment is essential to our success, and NG Bailey has been our trusted partner to deliver proactive and reactive maintenance for over two decades.
“This renewal demonstrates the trust built between both organisations and our shared focus on improving performance, sustainability and community impact. We look forward to continuing our partnership together.”
FMJ and Watco Webinar: Meeting compliance in a new culture of accountability
From January 2026, the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) formally separated from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Created under the Building Safety Act 2022 in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the BSR is designed to raise safety standards across the built environment and introduce a stronger culture of accountability, transparency, and proactive risk management.
This shift places facilities managers in a more strategic safety assurance role – far beyond routine maintenance.
FMJ and Watco are hosting a webinar on 22 April at 11:00am to explore what this new regulatory landscape means for FMs. To register for the webinar click here.
