Independent contract caterer, PINCH, is entering an exciting new phase of growth, marked by the appointment of Simon Esner as Chairman.
Founded and led by Managing Director Katy Thompson, PINCH has built a strong reputation for delivering outstanding food and hospitality within workplace environments, particularly across the legal, technology, and media sectors. As the business continues to grow supported by a strong pipeline and increasing demand, this appointment signals a clear step forward into the next chapter of its journey.
Thompson said: “This is a hugely exciting step for PINCH. We’ve built a business centred on great food, talented people, and strong client partnerships. With Simon on board, we’re well placed to build on that and unlock new opportunities.”
Many years after recruiting Nathan Jones as a young salesman within the foodservice industry, Esner now reunites with him at a pivotal moment for the business. Today, Jones leads PINCH as Chief Executive, working alongside Thompson to drive the company’s continued expansion.
Jones said: “It’s fantastic to be working with Simon again. We’re seeing real momentum in the market, and his experience will help us accelerate our plans and strengthen our position as we grow.”
Esner brings extensive experience across foodservice, hospitality, and the FM sector – an avenue PINCH is keen to explore as it continues to evolve its offer. He spent 30 years with WSH and was recognised with the Outstanding Contribution Award at the Foodservice Cateys, reflecting his long-standing impact on the industry. He has also served as a judge and lead judge for the IWFM Awards and is a trustee of Hospitality Action.
Alongside his role with PINCH, Esner continues to mentor organisations and act as a Non-Executive Director including involvement in a retail high street sandwich bar group and neighbourhood quality restaurants in London.
Esner said of his new role: “I’m delighted to be joining Katy, Nathan, and the team at PINCH. It’s a fantastic business with strong foundations, and I’m looking forward to supporting its continued growth.”
PINCH provides workplace foodservice and hospitality across the UK, operating staff restaurants, cafés, and hospitality spaces within corporate environments, with established contracts in London, the Northeast, and Cambridge.
Incorporated in April 2023, and securing its first contract in September 2023 PINCH says it is now targeting growth beyond the £3 million turnover threshold in 2026.
FMJ and Watco Webinar: Meeting compliance in a new culture of accountability
From January 2026, the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) formally separated from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Created under the Building Safety Act 2022 in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the BSR is designed to raise safety standards across the built environment and introduce a stronger culture of accountability, transparency, and proactive risk management.
This shift places facilities managers in a more strategic safety assurance role – far beyond routine maintenance.
FMJ and Watco are hosting a webinar on 22 April at 11:00am to explore what this new regulatory landscape means for FMs. To register for the webinar click here.
