Portico creates two brand-new accounts director positions

Guest services provider, Portico has promoted Rachel Smith and Abbie Smith to newly created Accounts Director roles, which will see them take on more client-focussed responsibilities – each will manage a segment of client business while also contributing to wider company offerings.

Both assumed their new roles on 1 January and bring with them well over 30 years of combined experience and knowledge to these new positions, as well as a strong team bonding focus which strongly aligns with Portico’s values.

Rachel joined the Portico family in 2015. Her first role involved overseeing the move of Portico’s client UBS into its new headquarters at 5 Broadgate. In 2018, she moved to take over our new business with NatWest (formally RBS).

Speaking about her new appointment, Rachel said: “I remain as passionate about making people happy through hospitality and customer-facing roles as I was when I started out in this industry more the 20 years ago. Since arriving at Portico in 2015, I have become part of the family and am grateful to all my colleagues who have supported me along the way.”

Abbie, meanwhile, has been with the company for more than four years. She moves into the role of Accounts Director having previously held the position of Operations Manager, where she looked after a varied portfolio of clients.

Abbie commented: “This feels like a natural step, building on my previous experience in senior management posts overseeing multiple clients and managing numerous relationships with customers. I cannot wait to get started and help to shape Portico’s next chapter.”

Hanna Barrett, Operations Director at Portico added: “We are delighted to announce Rachel and Abbie as our new Portico Accounts Directors. Portico is a growing business, and the roles have been created with both our growth journey and customer interests in mind. We could not have two better people taking these new responsibilities on.”

2023 FMJ and Grundon Recycling and Waste Management Survey

FMJ in conjunction with Grundon Waste Management is pleased to launch the 2023 waste management and recycling survey which examines the ways in which FMs approach their waste management responsibilities.

In this, the sixth year for the annual appraisal, we know there is a greater opportunity than ever for FMs to reappraise their waste and recycling operations and help their organisations meet the growing pressure to achieve ESG goals.

We want to learn how FMs have adapted to the legislative, economic and societal changes of the past year and how they plan to meet the latest waste and recycling targets.

In this survey we’ve posed a series of questions which include insights into FMs’ waste management strategy and targets, how they’re moving towards zero waste targets, and the importance of not just meeting compliance targets but also ESG goals.

The results of the 2023 survey will be published in FMJ magazine and form the basis of a white paper co-written by FMJ and the experts at Grundon on how to approach waste and recycling strategies.
