EVFM a new specialist business aiming to redefine how electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is delivered, owned and managed in the UK’s fast-growing residential sector has been launched by property and construction entrepreneur Mike Banton.
Headquartered in Manchester and operating nationwide, EVFM says it is targeting a critical gap in the market: the lack of long-term, professionally managed EV charging solutions for apartment blocks, multi-unit developments and large residential schemes.
There are now more than two million electric cars on UK roads and 25 per cent of new-car registrations are fully electric vehicles. While most providers focus on installation alone, EVFM has been built as a full lifecycle infrastructure partner. This approach reflects a growing concern across the property sector that EV charging is being treated as a short-term “tick-box” exercise, rather than a critical piece of residential developments.
Mike Banton, Founder of EVFM, said: “Too many EV charging projects are treated as one-off installations when they should be viewed as long-term infrastructure assets.
“As electric vehicle adoption continues to grow, developers, freeholders and managing agents are increasingly being asked to take responsibility for systems they often don’t have the expertise or resources to manage.
“EVFM was created to solve that problem. We design, own and manage EV charging networks properly, safely and ethically, giving clients confidence that the infrastructure will continue to perform long after installation.”
Having witnessed first-hand the challenges faced by property owners and managing agents, Banton identified a significant gap in the market for a specialist operator focused on the long-term performance and management of EV infrastructure.
He brings more than three decades of experience in property and construction to this start-up, having built and scaled businesses in the property and energy sectors and spent years delivering complex projects on live residential developments.
The business has already installed hundreds of chargers across the UK in cities including Manchester, London, and Liverpool, establishing, developing and expanding its EV infrastructure across residential and commercial property portfolios.
