VIVO links up with construction industry charity Lighthouse

Facilities management and maintenance organisation, VIVO Defence Services, has become a company supporter of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, which provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.

VIVO, a joint venture between Serco and Equans, employs around 1,200 people and looks after military bases and service family accommodation for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), part of the Ministry of Defence.

As part of its commitment to be an employer of choice, it carries out a number of initiatives to support colleagues and has become a company supporter of the Lighthouse Charity in readiness with Mental Health Awareness Week (15- 21 May).

A crucial element of the charity’s strategy is to provide a wide range of free and widely available pro-active resources to support the industry.

The charity offers a free and confidential 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline and text HARDHAT service which provides a range of information, guidance and support on a huge variety of wellbeing issues. These services are complemented by its free Self-Support App, which offers another route to support, along with its Lighthouse Beacons who provide a safe space for people to share concerns.

The charity’s Wellbeing Academy offers a variety of free soft skills and leadership training delivered across various platforms to suit every learning style from self-paced e-learning, tutor led online masterclasses and seminars, through to bespoke onsite training.

Jerry Moloney, VIVO Defence Service’s Managing Director, said: “Looking after the health and wellbeing of all of our colleagues is a top priority and we are really proud to link up with the Lighthouse Charity, which has such a great track record of supporting people within the construction industry.”

Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Charity, added: “We’re delighted to have VIVO Defence on board as a Company Supporter. Their support both financially and in terms of raising awareness of all the support we can offer the construction community is very much appreciated.”
