EMCOR UK receives International Safety Award

EMCOR UK has been awarded an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe.

The facilities, asset and workplace management services provider is one of only 135 organisations globally to be awarded a Distinction in the International Safety Awards 2022 achieving maximum marks against the scoring criteria.

Now in its 64th year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also acknowledge organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.

Keith Chanter, Chief Executive Officer at EMCOR UK, said: “Health and safety in the workplace has arguably never been more important. I’m delighted that EMCOR UK has been awarded a distinction and thank every one of our employees for making this possible.”

Jonathan Gawthrop, Executive Director, Wellbeing Sustainability and Assurance at EMCOR UK, said: “We take great pride in being industry leading when it comes to workplace health, safety and wellbeing. This award is the result of a long-term strategy and commitment that ensures workplace safety is embedded into everything that we do.”

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of British Safety Council, congratulated EMCOR UK on its success in winning an International Safety Award 2022 with a Distinction: “The British Safety Council applauds EMCOR UK on their achievement. The award is in recognition of their commitment and hard work to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.

“The vision of British Safety Council is that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work – anywhere in the world. Achieving this requires more than complying with legislation; it means people committed not only to health and safety but also more and more to workplace wellbeing and impelling others to follow suit.”

In 2022, 549 organisations across 39 countries have been presented with an International Safety Award, spanning a range of sectors including construction, manufacturing, oil, gas, mining, power and utility sectors. One hundred and thirty-five organisations were awarded a Distinction, 204 organisations were awarded a Merit and 210 organisations achieved a Pass.
