Expansive is the pawfect fit for Pets at Home’s CAFM needs

Expansive FM has been selected as the CAFM partner for Pets at Home, the UK’s leading pet care business.

Pets at Home has a huge UK real estate covering  457 Pet Care Centres, 342 grooming salons, 307 in-store veterinary practices, 140 standalone veterinary clinics, and three support offices. With big plans for further investment in facilities, the partnership with Expansive promises to help the business with a new phase of strategic growth.

Juggling complex FM demands

In the Pets at Home business model, cherished family pets (with their owners) are welcomed in-store for all kinds of treats and treatment. Pet welfare and customer experience are always at the top of the agenda, meaning FM teams have their work cut out to prioritise and fix issues across different types of assets and facilities. But, until now, operational FM data from across the company’s pet care centres has been spread across different platforms.

Search for a tailored CAFM

In February 2023, the team at Pets at Home began looking for an innovative FM solution that could give full visibility across its complex network of facilities. The business wanted its FM data all in one place and the digital tools that could help with:

  • Asset lifecycle tracking
  • Reactive maintenance
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Contractor management
  • Invoicing
  • Compliance
  • Cost control
  • Analytics and reporting

Janice Williams, Head of Facilities Management at Pets at Home, began a competitive tender process to find a partner who could work with the company to build a solution tailored to its needs.

For Williams, Expansive FM’s platforms’ capabilities and future flexibility was a major selling point. She said: “What impressed me most about Expansive was how the platform continually evolves. The team are always adding features and are very open to adapting plans to answer specific needs. We could see how their way of working would help us meet our goals in an agile way.”

The mobilisation process has now begun, and Pets at Home is confident it will have all the data it needs to power its strategic growth. Williams added: “We’re looking forward to bringing all our colleagues onto one platform. We’re excited about how the innovation will streamline compliance and process. We can see that Expansive will unlock strategic data for us, that will change the way we work.”

Josh Greibach, Co-Founder of Expansive welcomed Pets at Home on board. He commented: “Pets at Home are an amazing brand with ambitious plans to become the ‘world’s best pet care centre’. We share their passion for customer service and innovation. We’ve loved working with the team as they bring their vision of data-driven facilities management to life!”
