Securitas team record new charity track

Last year, the Securitas UK charity single ‘Ascending’ raised over £15,000 to help the hungry and homeless. Keen to build on this success and to support those who feel overlooked or discriminated against, a team from Securitas UK has recorded a new charity track for 2022. Called ‘See A Different World’, the lyrics reflect the importance of acceptance, understanding and inclusion.

With the funds raised last year, Securitas UK helped the Kokni Muslim Association Birmingham (KMAB) provide 25,000 hot meals to those in need in Birmingham. The money also supported a hostel for the homeless, Calderwood House, by funding a minibus for a year, a ‘helpfulness’ room and staff training. The money raised by the new charity single will be used to continue to support the homeless in a variety of ways.

See A Different World

The song’s starting point was this summer’s in-house ‘Securitas Has Got Talent’ competition which uncovered yet more musical aptitude amongst colleagues.

Oliver Lincoln, Securitas UK’s ‘resident composer and pianist’ (his actual job is UK Sales Manager) was then commissioned to create a composition to showcase the skills of some of our best singers and musicians. Stepping up to the mic were Claire Leary (lead vocal), Humera Rashid (vocals), Hannah Harper (vocal and guitar) and Augustus Mends (bass).

The song’s lyrics highlight the importance of creating a world of equality, diversity and inclusivity.

Shaun Kennedy, Country President, Securitas UK explained: “‘We want to help people from different cultural and religious backgrounds, people with different preferences, to feel comfortable, feel welcome and feel equal. As the song says, ‘we come from different places, but our hearts beat just the same’. We know that times are tough, but we really hope that this message will encourage those who can spare a little to donate via our JustGiving page to help others less fortunate than themselves. Thank you for any contribution you’re able to make.”
